KINTAMANI, BALI — Amateur radio operators from Bali will gather at Toya Bungkah, Kintamani, on 25–26 April 2026 for Vacation On The Air (iVOTA), a DXPortable Amateur Radio program that combines portable radio operation, tourism promotion, and fellowship among radio amateurs.
The activation will take place in the scenic highlands of Toya Bungkah, Kintamani, Bangli Regency, an area well known for its natural hot springs, cool mountain weather, views of Mount Batur, and the beauty of Lake Batur. Toya Bungkah is described by Visit Bali as a popular hot spring destination located at the foot of Mount Batur, with visitors able to enjoy views of Mount Batur, Lake Batur, and the green hills around Trunyan Village.
Organized under the DXPortable spirit, iVOTA - Vacations On The Air is designed to promote tourist attractions through amateur radio activity. DXPortable describes iVOTA as a program that promotes tourist attractions and places by combining travel with radio operations from vacation spots.
This Bali activation is especially meaningful because it brings together activators from ORARI Lokal Buleleng and ORARI Lokal Bangli, both under the broader ORARI Bali amateur radio community. The participation of both local chairmen as activators shows strong support and unity between the two local organizations.
ORARI Lokal Buleleng has been active in public service and community programs, including environmental and social activities during ORARI’s 57th anniversary in 2025. Its chairman, Putu Mangku Mertayasa, callsign YE9DD, was cited by ORARI Pusat in that program. ORARI Lokal Bangli has also been active in special-event amateur radio activities, including a Special Event Station for the 97th Youth Pledge Day.
During the event, amateur radio operators will bring their own radio equipment, set up portable stations and antennas, and activate Toya Bungkah to make contacts with amateur radio stations in Indonesia and around the world. The event information lists Grid Locator OI71qa, ITU Zone 54, CQ Zone 28, and IOTA OC-022, identifying Bali Island as part of the activation reference.
Beyond making radio contacts, the event aims to introduce Toya Bungkah and Kintamani to the global amateur radio community. Through every QSO, operators will help share Bali’s natural beauty, local tourism potential, and the friendship of Indonesian amateur radio.
With the support of ORARI Lokal Buleleng, ORARI Lokal Bangli, Kintamani Cabins, and the DXPortable Amateur Radio community, iVOTA Toya Bungkah–Kintamani Bali 2026 is expected to become a memorable field activity that blends radio, tourism, and brotherhood on the air.
